“We believe it is now crucial to look at the economic, regional, and national benefits of activities all along the hydrocarbon value chain in Quebec, from exploration to development and from refining to processing by the petrochemical industry.
“A number of parties seek to polarise the debate and exclude hydrocarbons from all type of public discussion, although these account for 52% of Quebec’s energy use – not only in the tanks of our cars but also in our cellphones and as the components in hundreds of medications that support human health.
“We believe that it is essential to work together to define a broad-based energy portfolio for Quebec and avoid eliminating any form of reflection or discussion regarding hydrocarbons that could lead to the development of an industry that generates collective wealth for all Quebecers.”
