We’re committed to safety
Pipelines are the safest way to transport oil over long distances, and TransCanada has an industry-leading safety record. Our top priorities are prevention and safe operations.
No one takes the safety of our pipelines more seriously than we do, which is why the Energy East Pipeline will have comprehensive Emergency Response Plans. These plans will outline procedures to protect the public, emergency responders, property and the environment in the unlikely event that an emergency occurs. We’ve started the process of developing them much earlier than the regulatory process requires, and they will be finalized prior to the start of operations.
In the unlikely event of an incident, TransCanada will take full responsibility for providing the clean-up expertise, equipment and personnel needed to restore a site to meet or exceed regulatory standards, and will pay for any associated damages.
